Northamptonshire is located in the Eastern part of the East Midlands. It lies in the centre of a number of counties: Warwickshire to the west, Leicestershire, Lincolnshire and Rutland to the north, Cambridgeshire to the east, Bedfordshire, Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire to the south. Its main county town is Northampton, but other towns of note in the area include Kettering, Corby, Wellingborough and Daventry.
Northamptonshire was historically most famous for it’s bustling shoe and leather industry. However more recently it’s perhaps better recognised for being the home of Silverstone racing circuit.
Transport
The M1 runs directly through Northamptonshire which connects the north and south of the country. The A43 joins the M1 to the M40 and the A14 provides access to the east of England.
Northamptonshire has frequent high-speed rail services to London via Northampton train station.
This central location and its excellent transport links make Northamptonshire a popular destination with those needing to commute into Milton Keynes, Leicester, London, Cambridge and Oxford.

Given its central location, it is a major UK logistics and transport hub, with companies such as Wincanton, Eddie Stobartm and Dentressangle having their largest facilities in Northamptonshire. Motorsport in particular is focused in and around the Silverstone region, with the likes of F1 Mercedes AMG settling their head office in Brackley.
From the consumer perspective World-famous brewery Carlsberg and cereal brand Weetabix are just some of the many household names who call Northamptonshire home. And whilst the shoe industry has now died off, Dr Martens one of the UK’s most recognisable leather shoe brands is still headquartered in Wollaston.
