With over 90 years of growth and achievement, the company now employs over 65 people and provides an extensive range of electrical products and systems. They design and manufacture equipment for the Aviation, Maritime and Rail industries. A UK manufacturer that can create bespoke products at short notice. Reporting to the Sales Manager for their Aviation division, the successful Business Development Manager will take responsibility for managing, supporting and where necessary, growing their global distributor network. About 70% of the sales are currently via the current distributor network, but they are moving towards a distributor-only model. You will be targeted to provide sales orders at profitable target levels that meet or exceed budget and communicate action plans when results differ from expectations. Candidates will ideally have experience in a field/home-based global business development role, and be able to demonstrate success in winning business and selling products to new and existing customers at home and overseas. You must be comfortable visiting and working on stands at tradeshows across the world, and meetings with end-user customers directly to discuss the benefits of technical product ranges and their pain points. This is a new role servicing the East of England, and a patch covering Essex, Cambs, Herts, Beds, Norfolk & Suffolk. Based from home after an initial 3 week training course, you will be provided with a car and all the tools to build and grow your customer base. Expectation would be an average of 3 customer visits a day across the week, though it’s likely you would be at home a couple of days and doing 5 per day across 3. This is not a hard sales role, and it’s a product/service that property business must provide by law, your job is to educate the businesses on the product and advise why it’s better and different to the other market products, with the hope of them joining. As it’s not a hard sales role and you are working for a not for profit organisation there is not a huge commission package on offer, so whilst sales ability and motivation to operate a field based sales role is desired, the position will not suit people only motivated by money. We’re working with one of East Anglia’s success stories on a new role to manage sales accounts, as well as contribute to the development of the sales strategy across the business. It’s a fantastic role for a technical salesperson, who enjoys building relationships with OEM’s and  distributors alike and somebody that enjoys international travel, as you will get the opportunity to travel the globe regularly (2-3 weeks per quarter). This role will eventually lead to the management of the UK sales team and candidates of particular interest will be selling components/consumables into OEMs/distribution, or finished products that are of a highly technical nature. As the customers will likely be specialists in their field, you will need the ability to really understand the range and target market so that you can sell against competitors in the field – this will be taught, but a quick understanding of technical products is a must. Whilst experience from a global sales role is preferred, candidates that are coming from international distributor management roles, or UK focused sales roles with distribution experience will also be considered. We need somebody intelligent and eager to learn, ideally who enjoys technology and science, somebody who can get their head around a varied digital portfolio and really understand what it can offer,  who it can reach, and in turn communicate this articulately. This position will be heading up the sales of a variety of digital products and marketing services reaching on niche scientific audiences across a portfolio of media/advertising brands. Targeting mainly Tier 1 businesses seeking engagement with scientists, technical experts and buyers across the globe. This is a highly consultative B2B media sales role and as such would suit candidates with previous experience of selling brand exposure/lead generation B2B marketing content services such as sponsorship, media and exhibitions. The products you will be selling could vary across branded content,  round tables, webinars, podcasts, data, email campaigns, banner advertising. You will be given a pool of existing clients where you will be targeted on renewals and growth, as well as a pool of previous clients from the past few years where you will be looking to re-book/re-engage their brands for future business, and as well as this you will also be required to target and close new business across set demographics of companies. This is a complex sell, sometimes with long sales cycles, and as such you must be professional, patient, articulate and most importantly willing to learn and get involved within the industries you will represent. This is a fantastic role with many benefits, such as international travel, and a relaxed and friendly working environment. The role is predominantly home based, and as such you will only be expected to attend the office 1 day per week in Cambridge. However there will be trips abroad required, so it may be that once a quarter you would travel to Europe for a tradeshow, and potentially visit the US for a large annual event. Key Duties
  • Sell and secure profitable and sustainable content marketing services, including: advertising, content, design, digital development, digital marketing, and media sales
  • Target, create and maintain a database of key contacts within specified target sectors and markets via CRM
  • Create positive and collaborative working relationships with prospects
  • Play an active part in creating and delivering presentations and proposals, responding to tenders and preparing for pitches
Whilst achieving  the above you will be expected to approximately spend 50% of your time focused on outbound cold calling/outreach, and the other 50% of your time working collaboratively on the pitches.
